Mark A. Riser

Mark has been a general partner in private equity funds, a private investor in middle market businesses and a principal in family office investments since 1999.  He has been a board member of a dozen companies, has invested in over 20 private companies in his career and is a frequent panelist at industry events.

Prior to entering the private equity industry, Mark started his career as a submarine officer aboard the Los Angeles class attack submarine, The USS San Francisco (SSN-711) stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI.  Following his tour of duty, he worked for Fortune 50 and 500 public companies in project engineering, business development, treasury, corporate finance and M&A.

Mark is a Conoco Scholarship recipient and graduate of Louisiana Tech with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering where he was also a nuclear propulsion officer candidate (NUPOC) in the Navy’s selective nuclear power program.  Following graduation from Tech, he enrolled and graduated from Naval Officer Candidate (top 10%), Nuclear Power, Nuclear Prototype and Submarine schools.  After leaving the Navy, he graduated with an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business where he remains a class agent, and previously served as Chairman of the Alumni Board.
